History of Macgregors Plumbing

 

Macgregor's Plumbing Services has a rich history deeply rooted in Tauranga, tracing its origins back to 1980 when Roy Macgregor, the founder, established the company. This marked the beginning of a journey that would see the business grow into one of Taurangas largest plumbing companies.

In the early years, the business steadily built a reputation for reliability and quality service, and by 1989, his son, Colin, had joined the family business as a new apprentice. The father-son duo worked closely together, and by the early to mid-1990s, the business had grown with Roy, Colin and 3-4 others operating as a small but dynamic team. 

During this period of growth, Colin took some time to travel abroad in the late 1990s before returning in 2000. Upon his return, he re-joined Macgregor's Plumbing Services, where he worked alongside Roy and two other long-term workmates. In 2004, the father-son partnership became official, with Colin joining partnership in the company and contributing to the overall management of the business. 

As the business grew, the Macgregor's team moved from their home-based setup to a small workshop. During this time, Macgregor's Plumbing Services began forming relationships with key customers and recruited some of the long-standing staff who remain a part of the team today. During these years, the company also launched 'Leakdoctor,' a specialised branch of the business. 

In late 2016, Macgregor's Plumbing Services moved to their current premises in Tauriko. Now, in 2024, eight years from that milestone, the company is proud to celebrate what they have achieved over 44 years and is very excited to carry on this tradition of expert advice and reliable and professional service as they join Aotea Plumbing & Drainage NZ.
